Humility is one of the most neglected and misunderstood virtues. Humility is one of the most important things that we can value as a culture, as individuals, as humans.
Humility is... is dedicated to fostering the conversation about what humility is, why it is important, and how we can tangibly benefit from it.
This site is filled with stories, scriptures, parables, and more to help us focus our minds' lens on what it means to cultivate such a difficult virtue.
Often, when presented with a problem, we assume we know the solution before we even fully understand what we are up against. Can you think of some examples? I can't find my keys! They must be in the... My kids are bored and need something to do! I will make them... A client at work is calling and complaining about some issue! We'll just tell them... While our reaction in the moment may stop the situation from getting worse or even appear to solve the problem, how do we know if it was the right answer? How often do we even ask that question?
Humility is often viewed as a fixation on our own weakness or insufficiency. True humility does indeed believe that we are weak and cannot accomplish what we need to. However, its ultimate focus is on the external power available to solve problems of epic proportions.
I was skeptical the first time I heard someone discuss they idea that some issue was "systemic". The issue they described seemed pretty isolated. I wasn't convinced that it was a big enough deal to warrant the "systemic" label. Even though I didn't agree with the labeling of their issue then, I do now. And not only that, I also think that are issues tend to me more systemic than not.
